Successful Buddhist Businessman Anura Leslie Perera

Perhaps Anura Perera Raycom simply has good karma from past lives. It certainly looks like he is living a very charmed life. Born in Colombo, the capital city of tropical island Sri Lanka, he first tried his hand in business in Zambia, working as an engineer and sales professional for Caterpillar Inc., the heavy equipment manufacturer, designer and distributor. He is currently the Chairman of Raycom Aerospace Pte Ltd., a Singaporean based aerospace company which specializes in the manufacture of precision machine parts both for the aerospace as well as oil and gas industries. Possessing a sterling reputation for being trustworthy and reliable, Anura Leslie Perera regularly helps others strike mutually beneficial partnerships and business deals. Recently, he helped to facilitate the signing of an MOU (Memorandum of Understanding) between Raycom Aerospace and the Abu Dhabi Airports Company (ADAC) to improve the Al Ain aerospace cluster infrastructure. Anura Leslie Perera is also a member of the IIE (Institution of Incorporated Engineers), the ASEE (the Association of Supervisory Executive Engineers) and the IET (Institution of Engineering and Technology).

A Devout and Generous Philanthropist

Anura Leslie Perera understands that it is his personal duty to help those who are less fortunate than him. He established the George Phylnormel Foundation, a non-profit charity organization and raised money through this foundation to fund the construction of the Nairobi Buddhist Temple in Kenya. Headed by Bhante Wimala, the Theravada Buddhist temple actively participates in relief projects to help victims of natural disasters like the Nepal and Haiti earthquakes, the Asian tsunami and Philippine typhoon. The Nairobi Buddhist temple also supports survivors of the Sri Lankan civil war. Additionally, Anura Leslie Perera is also a main contributor to the Triple Gem Society, another non-profit organization responsible for the rebuilding of the Thirappanmaduwan Reservoir in Sri Lanka.

Practicing Living A Mindful Life

Anura Leslie Perera adheres to the Buddhist principles of kindness, compassion and mindful living. He took his wife and eldest son to a health treatment center in Spain to reset their eating habits to improve their health and well being. The family now practices the pH Diet, an eating philosophy that emphasizes mindful eating by slowly and thoroughly chewing food to ensure complete digestion. Moreover, adherents are advised to increase their intake of alkaline food like leafy green vegetables, grains and fatty while and decrease their consumption of acidic food like red meat and other animal products. Anura Leslie Perera is also fully aware that life is not just about work. Indeed, it is those things around us that have no price tags that are the most precious, like close and loving relationships with family and friends, as well having enough free time to unwind and reflect on one’s life. Thus, the Buddhist businessman makes sure that he also makes time to engage in his two favorite activities, reading and cricket. He also regularly appears on various television and radio programs in order to spread his knowledge and expertise to the general public.
