Does your business make New Year’s Resolutions? If not then this could be the best time to implement them for the coming year. This is a strategy that I was discussing with the business mastermind , a man who’s brains I picked just recently. Our lives may have moved in different ways but Mike actually grew up not too far from me in Connecticut, myself in Southington and he in Hartford. As it happens we went to school together but I guess we moved in different circles. Our love of business brought us together once again and on the topic of NYE resolutions for your business, here is why he thinks it makes great sense.
Twice a Year
It can be so easy to get lost in your business, to get caught up in the minutiae and to lose the objective view which you always must have towards your business. As Mike says, there are only 2 times in the calendar year when a business is able to take stock of what is going on and look to make changes. These 2 times are at the end of the financial year, and at the end of the calendar year, many fail to place sufficient importance on the latter. Unless you are working in retail or logistics, things will quiet down around Christmas time and instead of giving yourself a pat on the back for the year which you have just had, it is time to start planning for the next year.
Hit The Ground Running
Many businesses begin to wind down for Christmas at the beginning of December and then it takes them until the middle of January to get going again. If you want your business to be successful then you simply cannot let this happen, you must make the most of every opportunity. Keeping the staff’s energy levels up prior to Christmas may be tricky and that is fine, they deserve some more relaxed time ahead of the holidays. In putting together some resolutions for the new year however you can make sure that the second that your team are back together in January, that they are going hit the ground running with new plans and new strategies.
New Year resolutions like weight loss or making more money works for a huge number of individuals each and every year and if it can work for those people then there is no reason why it shouldn’t work for your business. This is a great opportunity to tweak or change things in the business, to reach bigger goals and find greater success.
Resolutions are a great way to start the new year and achieve more goals within the business, don’t let this opportunity to find success pass you by, make the resolutions and then work hard to complete them.
